Publisher’s Message: Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor and the City Council Election

With fall and the November Chelsea City Council election on the horizon, please note that the number of letters to the editor has increased dramatically.

They are being published in the order in which they arrive – keeping in mind day-to-day news that is taking place as well.

Please include your name and the town in which you live when you send your letter. And a phone number to verify the letter writer.

You will receive an email stating that I have received your letter and an approximate date on which it will publish. And no phone numbers will be published.

And, please keep in mind that Chelsea Update is primarily a one-person operation and every story that publishes on Chelsea Update goes through me first. I do not have a full-time staff to assist me.

The last day that election-related letters to the editor will publish is Oct. 26 and they must in some way relate to information that has published on Chelsea Update.

In other words, I have no way of knowing what information has published in other news sources, and it’s unfair to readers of Chelsea Update to run letters that refer to information published elsewhere.

As an aside, I will be running candidate profiles on Sept. 27, and the candidates have until Sept. 23 to send me their answers and photos.
