Publisher’s Message: Lisa Update #5

As I type this on Sunday, I am thoroughly enjoying Day Four of the best vision I’ve experienced in my left eye in months following a successful cataract surgery on Thursday.

A huge thank you to Dr. Sensoli and his staff from Specialty Eye Institute who were tasked with starting their day with the worst patient possible. Me. You guys rocked it and made me feel so comfortable. For that I am beyond grateful and appreciative. (And, yes, I did apologize profusely to them all for drawing the short straw that morning.)

Although I was reassured many times this surgery would be a piece of cake compared to the retina surgery, I did not want to get my hopes up. But it was as easy as everyone told me it would be. And I came home, took it easy and spent the weekend appreciating every glorious color and sight nature has to offer.

My hummingbirds were frequent visitors, the finches and other pretty backyard birds returned to my feeders and Mother Nature kept me highly entertained.

With the help of a friend, I picked out and added more flowers to my garden; ones that weren’t orange. For some reason, I went hog wild with orange flowers this year — ignoring all the other vibrant flower colors nature has to offer.

So with step one complete, now comes the really hard part — the second retina surgery and I expect that to happen Tuesday afternoon. I meet with Dr. Purohit in the morning in Jackson, and if he feels my eye has healed enough, he plans to do his part in the afternoon. Finger’s crossed that this will happen, so I can be one day closer to healing and getting my life back — pre-retina tear.

My wonderful friend, Rebecca Burk is coming to stay with me for the week to nurse me through whatever is expected this time around for my care and feeding. Buzz and Aidan love her and she’ll keep them exercised and happy.

I’ve done what I can to edit, code and schedule as many stories as possible for this week. But again, I ask for your patience, as I follow doctor’s orders, and give my eye the rest it needs.

I know it won’t be much fun and I’m pretty lousy at doing nothing but rest. And yup, it makes me pretty darn grumpy. Too bad the Garfield movie isn’t available on Amazon Prime.

I’ll close by saying thank you everyone who has sent prayers, well wishes and donations. I can feel everyone’s positive vibes being sent this way. Each and every one is so appreciated.
