I hope everyone is enjoying a lovely Christmas Day with family and friends.
Aidan, Drake and I will be entertaining a group of friends for a turkey feast and showing off our mutual Christmas gift.
For the last several weeks, my friend Richard Eyster and I painted the basement and he installed the new, blue, dog-friendly flooring. It was time for an upgrade after spending 20-plus years training on cobbled together matting that was a trip hazard, limited course design and didn’t cover the whole floor.
Now the entire area is available and it’s wonderful. The flooring is easy on human back and hips, provides canines a non-slip, padded base for jumping and is easy to clean as well.
However, the renovation project is not complete. I still need to replace two windows and a large mirror will be installed on one wall so I can see what the dogs are doing when we’re training.
And the bathroom needs a major overhaul as well. I’ll be removing the wallpaper and doing a major cleaning before repainting the walls and replacing the ceiling tiles, installing flooring, a new toilet and the vanity.
Then the fun part – décor. As you probably noted, the flooring is bright blue, perfect for a maize and blue theme.
Once it’s complete, I’ll make sure to publish photos.
