Wow, as we dig out from under yet another snowstorm, and forge ahead into February, there’s a busy weekend ahead filled with fun, family events with something for everyone.
There’s cards, chili, fishing and kid’s fun at the Chelsea American Legion Post 31 Winter Carnival — a three-day festival, which begins this Friday and runs through Sunday. Take a ride to the Legion and enjoy euchre, great food, a fishing derby, chili cook off, live music and a 25-cent kids carnival and all proceeds benefit veterans and the community. On Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m., Chelsea will be filled with the smell of … chocolate … during the city’s annual Chocolate Extravaganza. Just in time to find the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for your sweetie.
Then Saturday afternoon, the Chelsea Lions Club is hosting a fundraising bowling event for the Penrickton Center for Blind Children at Chelsea Lanes.
Saturday night is the always popular Daddy-Daughter Dance that’s sure to be filled with little girls in beautiful dresses and their wonderful dads enjoying a special night together.
At the same time is the Chelsea Education Foundation’s Heart of Gold gala dinner and auction, which raises funds for educational programming and projects.
And thanks to the community’s generosity, Chelsea Update will be at all of these events covering them live with either photos or photos and stories. In addition, I hope you’ve noticed that I’ve also been able to afford to hire people to help me cover more township events in January as well.
