Publisher’s message: Scheduled for a COVID Vaccine

As I write this, in a couple hours, I am headed to receive my first COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday afternoon.

As a precaution, I have scheduled as many stories as possible for the rest of the week.

I’m being optimistic about all of this and I’ll be fine, but hope readers will understand if there aren’t as many stories published daily the rest of this week in case I do have a reaction to it and need to rest.

I have waited so long for my turn, and then Tuesday morning, there was a pause issued by the CDC for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine — the one I was originally scheduled to receive. And I was crushed. What are the odds of this happening on the very day I was scheduled to get it?

But, as luck would have it, I received an email from the county that said I’d be getting the Pfizer vaccine instead. So, game still on.

And although I was only hoping for only having one vaccine, and now it will be two, and I’m fine with that, too. I just want to have as much protection as possible from this virus.

Buzz is happy, too. He was at my feet on Monday morning, when I entered our first dog show in a couple years, which is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. With the second shot scheduled for May 4 and the two additional weeks, there’s still plenty of time to show Memorial Day weekend.

So, keep your fingers crossed for me that all goes well and I’ll keep you updated.
