Katie Doral has been named the new managing director of The Purple Rose Theatre Company.

She returns to Chelsea following 11 years in the business, most recently from First Stage Milwaukee, where she was the general manager.

Doral succeeds Julie Brunzell, who alternately filled the roles of stage manager, company manager and managing director since 1999, according to information from the theater company.

Doral was an AEA stage manager at The Purple Rose from 2003-2007 and graduated from the theater’s apprenticeship program in 2003.

“I have known Katie Doral since she apprenticed with us, years ago, right out of college,” Guy Sanville, artistic director, said in the press release, adding, “She is a passionate theater professional, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Rose. We are thrilled Katie is coming home.”

“I am deeply honored to have been selected for this position,” Doral said. “I love The Purple Rose and I am confident that great things lie ahead for our company and our community as we continue our mission of producing the new American play and creating opportunities for Midwest theater professionals.”
