David L. Otto, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at his home in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
He was born on July 23, 1937, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Willis and Josephine (Smith) Otto. Dave grew up in Dexter and after completing his military service with the famed 82 Airborne Division’s Red Devil Brigade, he returned to Michigan and married Marilyn G. Forest on July 17, 1965.They lived in Whitmore Lake, MI, until 1979 when they moved to North Lake just outside Chelsea, MI.
Upon retirement in 1998, Dave and his wife Marilyn moved to Pinehurst, NC, where they lived for the past 15 years. Dave spent his entire career as an operating engineer in commercial construction. Even after retirement, he put his construction skills to work volunteering his time helping to build Habitat for Humanity homes.
Dave enjoyed playing golf, traveling, volunteering and spending time with family and friends. He had a smile for all and will be missed by many.
