Recent obituary: Ralph A. Parker, Jr.

Ron-Parker-obitRalph E. Parker Jr., 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Saline Evangelical Home in Saline, MI under the care of Arbor Hospice after a short illness.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1920 in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Ralph and Julia (Lyons) Parker.  He graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1940 where he was a standout football star. On June 30, 1945 he married Reatha (Zeck) Parker and she preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 1995 after 50 years of marriage.

Ralph was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1945. He was then employed as a police officer for the City of Ypsilanti for 33 years retiring in 1978. He also worked part time for the Washtenaw County Sheriff Department as the Dexter Township constable for several years.

After retirement, he devoted the next 30 plus years to his passion for golf at Inverness Country Club in which he achieved life time member status. He also enjoyed many travel destinations with his wife. His greatest pleasure was his time spent at home on North Lake with his extended family and friends for boating, cookouts, garage parties, and card games.
