Reggie the Recycling Raccoon says: Recycling bins on order

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Frank Hammer and the Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority (WWRA) for the information in this story.)

Those awaiting curbside recycling bins are in luck. One of WWRA’s product buyers has provided the funds to order bins and they are expected to be delivered in the next three weeks.

Please realize that the bins are a perk provided by WWRA and have nothing to do with the assessment you see on either the winter tax bill or the original decision to move to single-stream recycling.

Although we thoroughly enjoy the level of recycling participation, WWRA’s board had no idea that the cost would be three times higher than the original budgeted amount.

Please also remember that the bins are assigned to an address.  If you move, they are NOT to be taken with you, as the new owners will be using them.

Please be courteous and leave the bin at the address to which it was delivered.

And to those of you who have been waiting more than six months to get a bin, thank you for your patience.
