Welcome to Virtual Summer 2020

We know things are just not like normal this summer.

Camp GABIKA, which is Chelsea’s affordable summer day camp, and WRAP Camp, which is the Waterloo Recreation Area Program, are both offering virtual programs this summer.

Virtual WRAP Camp has a full week of events scheduled for the week of July 6-10, ranging from a scavenger hunt to virtual field trips around the country. There will even be some of the favorite craft projects, and the week ‘wraps up’ with the WRAP Camp classic sing-along event hosted remotely on Zoom.

Camp GABIKA also officially kicks off their virtual summer on July 6.  We have put together a seven-week program including many of the activities that campers enjoy every summer.

We are offering our mileage club and a virtual field trip each week. By registering for $10 for the entire summer, campers will have access to the rewards from mileage club, gift certificates to use at the Wednesday Chelsea Farmer’s Market, and even their special 2020 Camp T-shirt!

All of the information to register for Camp GABIKA as well as the Virtual WRAP Camp list can be found on the Chelsea Community Education website at www.chelsea.k12.mi.us/community-education.

We hope you will join us for the virtual summer.

  1. My wife, Mary Ann Schwartz, and our neighbor, Emily Decker, first envisioned WRAP camp back in 1992 or 93. Back then the goal was to provide a summer writing and environmental program. The Chelsea Education Foundation funded at least the first few years. Emily nows teaches in a college on the west coast and while we still own a home in Chelsea we live and work in Japan now. We are both so happy to see that WRAP camp carries on!
