For many families and individuals throughout Washtenaw County, finding a warm winter coat is a crucial challenge each year.
Coats provide warmth and safety during frigid weather and are essential items for people in need. This year, Reinhart Realtors is collecting coats and distributing them to Faith in Action, St. Louis Center, and other local charities to help keep our community warm.
Reinhart Realtors Rick Taylor and Nora Hamouda are spearheading the Reinhart Coat Drive in Chelsea this year.
“The need for coats is going to be tremendous this winter. Our neighbors are counting on us to help get them through the season,” said Taylor in a press release who coordinated the company’s coat drive for several years and is excited to jump back in.
According to the Michigan Association of United Ways ALICE Project, 43 percent of Michigan households struggle to meet their basic needs. For many of these families, the cost of a warm coat is out of reach.
You can help give warmth this winter by donating new or gently used coats at one of the following locations now through Nov. 30. Children and adult coats of all sizes are needed. Please note that due COVID-19, the donation sites will be running on a modified schedule this fall, therefore, we recommend calling for hours before dropping off coats. All participants are asked to wear masks to ensure everyone’s safety.

During 23 years of the Reinhart Coat Drive, they have collected more than 23,000 coats.
