(Publisher’s note: Here is the exact address for Sylvan Township Hall, 18027 Old US 12.)

The Lyndon Township Planning Commission public hearing on a special land use application by McCoig Materials, Inc., which was originally scheduled for this week, has been changed to Monday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. and will take place at Sylvan Township Hall.

Township officials said Monday that the change in date was because all the documentation needed by the Planning Commission to review the application was not in yet, so, the Jan. 30 public hearing was rescheduled.

McCoig Materials, Inc. provides ready-mix concretes, and would like to remove sand and gravel from a 158-acre site in Lyndon Township. The company is seeking a special land use application and permit for the operation.

According to the company’s Website, McCoig Materials serves the metro-Detroit area with six strategically located permanent plant locations and its concrete materials are certified by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The proposed Lyndon Township site is between M-52 and North Territorial and is located between the Waterloo and Pinckney Recreation Areas.

The change in meeting venue to Sylvan Township Hall was made to accommodate what the township believes will be a large number of residents.

The proposed removal of sand and gravel as permitted in Chapter 5, Section 5.3, paragraph I of the Lyndon Township Zoning Ordinance. You can read the ordinance here.

If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to provide a written comment about the special land use application, written comments may be sent to: Janet K. Gilkey, office assistant of Lyndon Township, 17751 N. Territorial Road, Chelsea, MI 48118.
