The Chelsea Area Festivals and Events committee thanked the sponsors of the 2016 Sounds and Sights with an appreciation party on July 11 at The Common Grill.

More than 100 guests attended the event which featured an assortment of entrées and desserts by Chef Craig Common and four wines from the Trinchero Family Estates portfolio.

Chelsea resident and General Manager of Fine Wines at Trinchero Family Estates, Scott Stubbs, helped organize the event.

“Once again, I am honored to give a sincere ‘thank you’ to all of the sponsors and community members who help make Sounds and Sights possible,” Stubbs said, adding, “We are truly fortunate to have a thriving event like Sounds and Sights, which encourages the arts in our community.”

He introduced four wines selected for the evening.

The night began with a Rosé from the first Washington state brand for Trinchero Family Estates, Charles and Charles Rosé and continued with three wines from California. Poured were Complicated Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, Mario’s Vinyard Cabernet Sauvignon, and a mystery wine.

S-and-S-4-vStubbs noted that guests were in for a special treat as the mystery wine, a proprietary Bordeaux-style blend, was making its debut in Michigan at the Sounds and Sights Sponsor Appreciation Party. Only a small production, a total of 125 cases, had been produced by acclaimed winemaker Karen Cakebread.

After 20 years of marketing Napa Valley and its wines, Karen Cakebread launched ZIATA in honor of her mother, Mary Annunziata.  Stubbs explained how ZIATA wines are crafted from grapes sourced exclusively from sustainable sources, resulting in wines of unquestionable integrity.

Numerous prizes, sponsored by Trinchero Family Estates, were awarded at the end of the night. The winner of the grand prize this year were, David and Deborah Schaible, and they have the choice of a trip for two people to California, or a case of wine per month for a year.
