SEMCOG survey seeks resident input on local government budget priorities

SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, has launched a survey to gather residents’ perspectives on local government budget priorities in Southeast Michigan

COVID-19 has significantly impacted the national, state, and regional economies. That impact is felt in personal finances, businesses, and all levels of government. Maintaining critical services while dealing with declining revenues will be a bigger challenge for local governments.

This new survey asks you to identify which local government services are most important to you – seeking your input on the need for services while considering revenue constraints.

Take the survey here.

Results will be shared with local government leaders so that they understand what services their residents value most. Responses will also help inform SEMCOG’s Economic Development Strategy for Southeast Michigan, currently under development.

“COVID-19 has impacted all of our lives in many ways and continues to be a challenge for local government budgets,” said Kathleen Lomako, SEMCOG Executive Director. “This survey will help us and our member local governments understand which services they provide that residents value most.”

This survey is powered by Cobalt Community Research, a Michigan-based 501c3 nonprofit research coalition with a mission to provide research and educational tools that help schools, local governments, and other nonprofit member organizations thrive as changes emerge in the economic, demographic, and social landscape.
