Sept. 21: Look for maple syrup products at the Saturday Farmers Market

Look for pure maple syrup from H&H Sugarbush, LLC at some of the upcoming Saturday Chelsea Farmers Markets.

The Hedding family produces the syrup on their property just south of Chelsea.

It takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of maple syrup, and most trees only yield 5 to 15 gallons of sap per season.

Michigan ranks fifth in maple syrup production in the U.S. and pure Michigan syrup has 40 calories per tablespoon and is fat-free. The lighter the color the more delicate the taste of the syrup.

Look for a variety of syrup bottle sizes and shapes at the H&H Sugarbush stand.

The Saturday market runs from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and is located at Palmer Commons.

There will be a wide variety of vegetables and fruits at the market this weekend including apples, pears, plums, beans, potatoes, corn and tomatoes.

You’ll also find plenty of fresh baked goods, from breads to cakes to cookies.

Also on hand will be artisans with soy candles, bird houses, pottery, and jewelry.

Saturday market vendors this season include Brieland Shoultz Farm, Bordine Farms, Goetz Family Farm, Heim Gardens, Jacob’s Fresh Farm Shares, Kapnick Orchards, Lake Divide Farm, Merkel Gardens and Greenhouses, Tantré Farm, Two Tracks Acres, La Baguette, Lakehouse Bakery, Stone Hearth Bakery, Sweet & Salty (cookies), Raterman (sourdough bread), Fluffy Bottom Creamery, Para Para Creamery, H&H Sugarbush, LLC, Shoreline Wild Salmon, Affeathermations, Awakened Provisions, Bristle’s Handmade and Homegrown, Debbie’s Beads, Lavender and Honey Herbal Apothecary, Country Hills Pottery, Elderwoods, Hoppy Soap, Holdwick, Santa Rosa Watercolors, Smellz so Good (candles), and Thistle Blossom Herbal.
