Sept. 3: Chelsea Volunteer Fair at Palmer Commons

By Lisa Carolin

More than a dozen Chelsea area nonprofits will be participating in the Chelsea Volunteer Fair, to be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Palmer Commons, 304 South Main St.

The rain date is Thursday, Sept. 4. The event is free and open to all.

The Volunteer Fair will be run as an open house and provide an opportunity to learn more about volunteering as well as more information about each organization.

Some of the nonprofits that will be represented are the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Chelsea District Library, WAVE (Western-Washtenaw Area Value Express), AARP Tax Aide, Chelsea Rotary, and the Chelsea Area Historical Society.

Bill O’Reilly, one of the organizers of the event as well as president of the Chelsea Area Historical Society, says the goal of the Volunteer Fair is to provide a venue at no cost for local nonprofits to connect with interested volunteers.

Speaking for the Historical Society, O’Reilly says they would welcome those who can only help out at occasional events as well as helping with projects that can be done from home.

Any nonprofit organization located in the 48118 zip code is invited to sign up to participate at    https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4EADAE2CAAF8C70-57782952-chelsea#/
