Sept. 7: WWRA open house

wwra-open-house(Chelsea Update would like to thank Laura Scriven and the Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority for the information in this story.)

Looking for something awesome and different to do as a family now that school is back in session?

How about visiting the Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority‘s Open House Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m.- noon? The facility is located at 8025 Werkner Road.

It’s the perfect time to get into the facility, see the huge single-stream machine and learn about how the materials get sorted.

There will be board members and WWRA employees onsite to answer questions and to show you around.

The operation and machinery are massive and a hive of activity on weekdays. It is fascinating to see what a ton of milk jugs, or newspapers, or water bottles looks like.

It is also a great chance for the whole family to become more connected and more involved in protecting our environment.

Plus you can ask those questions about what can and can’t be recycled, too.
