Serendipity Books has two new bookmarks to hand out with purchases this summer.
Serendipity Books’ Summer Bookmark Design Contest was launched on Independent Bookstore Day, April 29. Children in the community got busy and created fantastic designs for consideration. By Memorial Day, Serendipity Books received 53 entries. Those designs were displayed in the windows of Serendipity Books for the last two weeks.
Recently, the winner – with a twist – was announced.
Since Ody, Serendipity Books beloved bookstore dog passed away just before Independent Bookstore Day, and since one design was a tribute to Ody, Michelle Tuplin, the owner of Serendipity Books, decided to select not one but two winners.
“It was impossible not to select Adeline’s sweet tribute to Ody. I imagine many in the community will love remembering Ody through Adeline’s bookmark,” she said in a press release.
The second winner selected was a design by Emma, featuring Serendipity Book’s chickadee logo perched on a tree along with pretty pink and blue flowers.
“I love how Emma took our logo and made it central to her design, adding her own interpretation and color,” said Tuplin.
With the success of the contest, Serendipity Books announced this will be an annual contest.
Serendipity Books is located at 108 East Middle St.
