ChelseaFor one-of-a-kind nostalgic items, make time to visit to the Chelsea Antiques Mall, located at 178 South Main St., in the same building as Chelsea Lanes. It’s a trip down memory lane and features a variety of holiday goods.

And Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. would make be a perfect time because it’s the Antiques Mall open house. It’s a chance to do your holiday shopping at a different kind of mall.

“Holiday items are usually available throughout the mall, but it is up to the individual dealers to display what they want to as long as the items are considered antiques or collectible items,” said Kaye Ewalt, who along with her husband, is one of more than 40 dealers at the mall paying a monthly rental for a booth.

She says that there are plenty of non-holiday items available now as well.

“Chelsea Antiques Mall can offer just about whatever you thought you were not looking for” said Ewalt. “You never know what our dealers will run across so the hunt and the excitement that go along with shopping are an added benefit.”

Goods sold in the mall are the property and responsibility of each individual dealer. The Ewalts keep a signature book and say they’ve had customers from around the world visit.

You can find everything from toys and books, pottery and china, to jewelry, vintage clothing, tools and furniture at the mall, which has been open for three years.

“It is such a thrill to hear someone say, ‘I cannot believe I found this.’ Or ‘I had this as a child,'” said Ewalt, who adds that their prices are below those of competitors and that they welcome offers.

“We feel the mall atmosphere is always friendly, and we make our customers want to come back,” said Ewalt. “We might not have anything for you the first time, but who knows what you will find the next trip in to our mall.”
