SRSLY hosts local game night to promote active, healthy living among youth

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Lindsay Baker for the information in this story.)

SRSLY Coalition, a healthy lifestyle and substance-free advocacy organization, recently hosted a “Rec. It Tuesday” game night at Pierce Park.

The event offered 75 youth an organized night of fun outdoor activities and encouraged active, healthy lifestyle choices within the community.

“We had a fantastic time, as a family, to bond [while] playing games, being outside, connecting and serving our community with SRSLY,” said Chrissy Grzadzinski, a parent and Chelsea resident.  “Our children were able to meet others and just be kids, off of their electronics.”

“Rec It Tuesday” is a free, child friendly series open to the public and held every Tuesday thru Aug. 13, from 6-8:30 p.m.  The goal of the organized night events is to offer activities that foster community engagement and healthy behaviors within the community, especially among young people.

“Rec. It Tuesday” is hosted by a group of community partners including the Chelsea Area Friends for Recreation, Chelsea District Library, Chelsea School District Community Education and Recreation Department, City of Chelsea Parks and Recreation Commission, Chelsea Community Center Exploratory Committee, and SRSLY.
