The Merries and the Monitors, Chelsea’s two vintage base ball clubs, will play concurrent matches tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Timbertown in an event called “Tallies For Charity.”
The matches are free and everyone is invited. Bring lawn chairs/blankets and refreshments.
Although there is neither a mandatory nor expected donation, the clubs will be accepting donations to benefit Faith in Action (FIA).
Executive Director of Faith in Action Nancy Paul says that the organization is in need of toiletries, Kleenex, boxed rice/pasta side dishes, cleaning products and canned pasta and fruit.
There will also be a box at the field for monetary donations of any amount. Van Hoek says 100 percent of the money and donated items will go to FIA.
The Monitors will be playing a “Scrub Nine” team, and the Merries will be doing the same, although we may mix squads up so there are two even sides.
