The Sylvan Township Planning Commission discussed the township’s private road ordinance during a work session at its Jan. 26 meeting, in anticipation of the Chelsea Hillcrest preliminary site plan proposal, which is tentatively scheduled to be on the commission’s agenda at its Feb. 23 meeting.
The Chelsea Hillcrest 17-unit Planned Unit Development has been tabled four times but Sylvan Township Zoning Administrator Carol Konieczki told the planning commission, “They have a new attorney, and we met with him yesterday, and the topic of the preliminary site plan is tentatively set for the February meeting.”
“What’s driving this is Chelsea Hillcrest,” Konieczki said about updating the private road ordinance. “We need to create a draft of changes to the ordinance.”
The planning commission is considering verbiage in the ordinance that all properties would equally share in the cost of maintenance.
This was the planning commission’s first meeting of 2017. Officers were selected-David Seitz is chair, Steve Eiseman is vice chair, and Dawn Caplis is secretary.
It was also announced that due to the resignation of Roy Schmidt, who was both a member of the planning commission and the Sylvan Township Board, there are currently vacancies on both.
Meeting dates for 2017 were approved. The planning commission will meet the fourth Thursday of every month at 7 p.m., with the exception of November, when the meeting will be on the 8th, and in December when the meeting will be on the 21st.
At the planning commission’s Feb. 23 meeting, there will also be a public hearing for the Master Plan.
