Teacher Alex Doering ‘The Bleu Print’ advisor

By Lisa Carolin

Ten years ago, Alex Doering was a freshman at Chelsea High School. Now she works at the high school and among her responsibilities is advising the staff of the school newspaper, “The Bleu Print.”

Doering says that when she was in high school people anticipated the release of each newspaper.

“I want that excitement to build once again,” said Doering. “I have high hopes for the paper, another way to make Chelsea High’s student community even stronger than it already is.”

Doering, who teaches ninth-grade Honors English as well as College Prep English to seniors, says she made the commitment to be the newspaper advisor because students didn’t want to see it end.

“As the years have gone by, especially since they ended the class that was associated with the newspaper, there has been less and less student involvement,” said Doering. “We probably have around 10-12 students and their involvement carries as far as they want.”

She says that students, teachers, and administrators are the newspaper’s main readers. There is only an online version at this time, no print version.

“Having it online allows us to ask students questions and get their responses back immediately,” said Doering. “Whether it is a poll or an open-ended question, the students can respond easily with the use of their iPad.”
