Three Chelsea-based UMRC employees win statewide awards from LeadingAge Michigan

Lori Herbig, Val McGuirt and Kori Rochefort  were recently recognized by LeadingAge Michigan. All of them work for United Methodist Retirement Communities.

The ceremony, which took place on May 19, recognized Herbig with the 2015 Leadership in Action Award, which recognizes an individual whose actions and leadership greatly enhance the work environment in their organization, as well as the quality of life for residents in the entire community.

Rochefort was given the 2015 Caring Spirit Award, which recognizes the achievements of frontline staff and direct care employees who have made a significant impact upon the lives of older adults.

McGuirt was the runner–up for 2015 Caring Spirit Award.

Herbig is a senior vice president and chief operating officer of United Methodist Retirement Communities (UMRC).

“Lori is a natural leader and her dedication helps deliver on the promise of our mission everyday,” said John Thorhauer, president and CEO, United Methodist Retirement Communities. “We’re grateful to have someone on our leadership team with such compassion and commitment to our ever-growing senior care services.”

McGuirt of Jackson, is a member of the environmental services team at Chelsea Retirement Community.

“Val has been a valuable member of our team, positively impacting the lives of both staff and residents, said Thorhauer. “We are greatly inspired by her commitment to always go above and beyond, and wish to congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition.”

Rochefort of Grass Lake is a life enrichment professional at Glazier Commons on the Chelsea Retirement Community campus.

“Kori was instrumental in making the move from our original Glazier assisted living building to the new Glazier Commons successful,” said Thorhauer. “The outpouring of support in Kori’s nomination mirrors our appreciation for everything she has accomplished, and everyone’s lives she has touched.”

Rochefort was nominated by several of her co-workers with support from leadership staff.
