Chelsea has a new behavioral health practice that specializes in treatments for kids, adolescents, couples and families. It’s called Thriving Minds Family Services, and it’s located in the Clocktower Commons Building.

The practice follows the philosophy of Dr. Aimee Kotrba, who believes that treatment should be geared toward the family as a whole and that schools should be consulted when working with children and teenagers.

“We make every attempt for our services to be encouraging, engaging, and focused on customer service,” said Kotrba, owner of Thriving Minds Family Services. “It can be overwhelming and sometimes intimidating to seek out psychological services, and we want families, children, and couples to be comfortable at every point in their experience.”

There are six employees at Thriving Minds Family Services – four psychologists, a practicum student/therapist, and an office manager. Kotrba also has a practice in Brighton.

“Our therapists use research-based treatments to teach kids, adolescents, couples and families helpful coping skills, communication tools, new behavioral techniques and successful parenting strategies,” said Kotrba. “We focus on both child and teen issues like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral issues, as well as adult anxiety and depression and couple’s counseling.”

Kotrba said she chose Chelsea as the location for the practice because she often visits for family activities.

“I believe Chelsea is a fantastic, close-knit, supportive community where we could offer services and help families thrive,” she said. “The building is beautiful, and our neighbors have been so accepting and supportive. The food, treats, and shopping within walking distance on Main Street are distracting but convenient.”

Kotrba says that families travel from all over the country to see the practice’s clinicians for specialized treatment.

”We felt that this location would allow them to access the great shopping and eating that Chelsea’s downtown has to offer,” said Kotrba.
