UMRC & Porter Hills Named a Best and Brightest Company

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Lisa French for the information in this story.)

United Methodist Retirement Communities (UMRC) & Porter Hills recently announced it has been named a Best and Brightest Company to Work For® in both Metro Detroit and West Michigan.

This national program honors companies that “display a commitment to excellence in operations and employee enrichment that lead to increased productivity and financial performance,” according to a press release by the National Association for Business Resources.

UMRC & Porter Hills is the only senior living organization in metro Detroit to receive this honor. And, 2021 marks the second year of this distinction for UMRC & Porter Hills from Metro Detroit Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® and the 19th straight year from West Michigan’s program.

“We are thrilled to receive the designation as a Best and Brightest Company to Work For®, shore to shore, again in 2021,” said Michelle Henderson, UMRC & Porter Hills chief human resources officer in a press release.

“With the added challenges and stresses of the COVID-19 pandemic, this past year, this award validates and honors the tireless efforts of each of our team members across the state as they provide exceptional care and services for older adults,” She said.

“The Best and Brightest is a powerful community of elite leaders who share ideas and practices, and have proven they are employers of choice,” said Jennifer Kluge, resident and CEO, Best and Brightest Programs.

“Best and Brightest winning companies have also been a voice for important actions in creating a sustainable culture that works, ensuring the well-being of their employees comes first. This national program celebrates those companies that are making better business, creating richer lives, and building a stronger community as a whole,” she said.

Each company is evaluated by an independent research firm on such key measures as compensation and benefits, employee education and development, recruitment and retention, and work-life balance to name a few.

UMRC & Porter Hills will be honored, along with other West Michigan Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®, at an event on July 20.
