UMRC welcomes new board member

Sherry Taylor has joined the Board of Trustees at Methodist Retirement Communities, Inc. (UMRC).

Taylor has been a partner at the Detroit-based law firm of Dickinson Wright since 2009 when she was also named one of 20 Up and Coming Lawyers by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.

In 2010 and 2011, she was named a Michigan Super Lawyer’s “Rising Star” in the areas of employee benefits and the Employment Retirement Income Security Act.

“As we open Rivertown Assisted Living in Detroit, Sherry brings an additional local perspective to our mission in the city of providing affordable options to the area’s seniors,” said John Thorhauer, UMRC CEO. “Her involvement in the community will be invaluable to us as we expand our mission.”

Taylor is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Litigation Council, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Straker Bar Association, Wolverine Bar Association, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan and the Detroit Chapter of the NAACP’s Legal Redress Committee.

She earned a Juris Doctor from the Wayne State University Law School and resides in Southfield.
