(Chelsea Update would like to thank Susan Pickering Rothamel for the information in this story.)

Calling all budding artists age 10 and older.

Come and express yourself, in a real studio environment. The creative fun begins Tuesday, Jan. 20  at US ArtQuest’s six-week After School Arts Program (ASAP) each Tuesday from Jan. 20 to Feb. 24 from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m., this program encourages youth and young teens to explore their unique creativity through drawing, painting, sculpture and more.

This is a high-quality arts program, tuition-based and developed according to the best practices in education and the arts. USArtQuest staffs talented professional teachers, instructors and artists who are kid-friendly.

ASAP provides students with an exceptional learning environment that extends beyond the project or the materials. While most public schools have cut back in art education, this 6 week session tickles the fancy and engages the imagination, while the students learn about real art techniques – using real art materials! Each class concentrates on a specific media such as drawing, painting or sculpture, and maximizes the fun that the various art-forms provide young minds. Your child will feel pride as they complete art they can actually exhibit at home.

The tuition cost is $150 ($25 per session) and a second child in the same family is $125. Sign up online here or call 800-766-0728 or 734-562-2662 Monday or Tuesday to enroll you child right away.

Don’t let them miss a minute of the first session where they will be learning the drawing technique of Zentangle, with Dee Christopher and Lolly Mindel. Includes all materials (no additional fees)

  • Week 1 – Drawing, Ink and Colored Pencils
  • Week 2 – Drawing and Painting with Color
  • Week 3 – Monoprinting
  • Week 4 – Collage and Assemblage
  • Week 5 – Sculpture #1
  • Week 6 – Sculpture #2

USArtQuest is located at 18650 West Old US-12 just east of Pierce Road, exit 157.
