Below are opportunities for volunteers to pull invasive garlic mustard plants and cut invasive shrubs in high-quality natural areas within state parks and recreation areas.
The Department of Natural Resources said in a press release taht these activities will help protect and restore unique woodlands in southeast Michigan state parks and offer a great way to get outdoors and enjoy some warmer weather after a very long winter.
Dates, locations and times of the workdays are:
Saturday, April 12, Waterloo Recreation Area (Washtenaw), 9 a.m. to noon
Wednesday, April 16, Waterloo Recreation Area (Washtenaw), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday, April 19, Waterloo Recreation Area (Washtenaw), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wednesday, April 23, Waterloo Recreation Area (Washtenaw), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Volunteers should bring gloves and drinking water and wear appropriate clothing for outdoor work, including long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
