Washtenaw County Conservation District tree and native plant sale

Washtenaw-County-Conservation-District-logoThe Washtenaw County Conservation District spring conservation tree and native plants sale is underway.

Tree seedlings, including a variety of evergreen tree, hardwood tree and wildlife shrubs, fruit trees and tree assortment packets can be ordered.  In addition, daylilies, wildflower and prairie grass plants, wildflower seed, and various tree planting aids are also being offered.

All plants offered by the Conservation District are intended for such conservation uses as: windbreaks, screens, wildlife habitat, soil erosion, reforestation, and naturalizing yards and landscapes.  Trees and shrubs purchased through the conservation district are not intended for commercial uses, such as nursery stock.  Public Act 89 of 1929 prohibits planting stock purchased from conservation districts from being resold with the roots attached.  Purchases through this program support conservation work by the Conservation District in Washtenaw County.

Orders for the tree and plant sale will be accepted through March 25 while supplies last. Distribution of trees, shrubs, and other conservation materials will take place on April 24 and 25 at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, Ann Arbor-Saline Road.

Orders for daylilies, wildflower and prairie grass plants will be accepted through April 29, while supplies last. Distribution of native plants is scheduled for May 8 at the District office.

To obtain a catalog for the spring tree and plant sale, call or visit the Conservation District office, 7203 Jackson Road, 734-761-6721 ext. 5.

Information on the sale is also available on the Conservation District web site here.
