This is the Whippets’ 10th season and the first time the team has been in Division I and the first time the team has made it to the semi-finals.

Goalie Hannah Moore earned her 9th shutout for the season.

This was the first 2013 tournament game for the Whippets, who earned a bye in the first round after securing a second seed in Division 1 playoffs. East Grand Rapids defeated Marian in the first round to play the Whippets on Oct. 29 at Chelsea High School.

“We’ve always had a really small varsity team. I think that’s what helps us. We play together so well, and know our strengths and weaknesses,” says captain Julia Porter. “Everyone has individual strengths. But what makes us good is how we play together.”

The Whippets play Ann Arbor Huron at Saline High School today, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. in the semi-final game of the state tournament.
