Week in Review: Aug. 5-11, 2012

Look for the new $700,000 Chelsea ladder truck in the fair parade driven by Billy Paul.

As the relaunched Chelsea Update completes its third week, I want to take a minute to thank all the people who have contacted me by phone, via email, or stopped me on the street with such positive feedback about the site. I’m so glad that it’s meeting the Chelsea Community’s expectations.

Please sign-up for the newsletter on the home page that way you will get an email each afternoon with a list of all the new stories since the previous day. You won’t miss anything new and you can cherry-pick the ones that most interest you.

In response to reader requests for where to find the cheapest area gas prices and for a fishing report, those “widgets” have been added to the home page. Happy gas comparison shopping and I hope the fish bite for you.

I also hope you are enjoying the comprehensive pre-fair coverage. In case you missed it, there has been a story every day beginning Aug. 1, and a there’s a widget that counts down the days to the start of the 75th Annual Chelsea Community Fair. I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait for fair to begin. I plan to be there taking lots of photos and writing stories each day, so be sure to say Hi.

If you don’t get the newsletter, don’t forget to click on all the different tabs on the top of site because I’ve been adding stories to many of the sections that don’t show up on the home page.

With that, here are some of the most popular stories with readers of Chelsea Update for the week.

And, here’s an update to the tragic car accident story this week that resulted in the death of 24-year old C.J. Boyer. According to the young man’s obituary on Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home Website, Boyer lived in Lima Township and was a 2006 graduate of Chelsea High School. His funeral is Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. with a burial to follow. Visitation is Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

In case you missed it, this story about the new Chelsea Area Fire Authority ladder truck should make everyone feel safer.
