From one car show expert to another, Classic Car aficionados from Battle Creek to New Baltimore told St. Louis Center organizers that, “For your first show, this was a great turnout.”

Almost 250 people lined up to visit St. Louis Center on Sunday, Sept. 22 to view 130 vintage cars. From a 1925 Model T Roadster to a 2012 Lamborghini Aventador, there were many great cars to choose from. And the owners of these classics were there for one purpose: to support the operations of St. Louis Center – a residential care center for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Chairwoman Cindy Lesser, who helped to organize this first time event, was extremely pleased with the quality of the cars and the generosity of the people who came.

“When the people who came got to meet our residents, they knew they were helping out a good cause and felt great about coming,” said Lesser.

Several national and local automotive celebrities turned out for the event, including Jean Jennings of Automobile Magazine, Chuck Miller of Styline Customs, Chuck Gaidica from News 4 – Detroit, Brian “Bubba” Cowan of W4 Country Radio Ann Arbor, and “Top Hat” John Jendza, who has been organizing these shows for the past 40 years.

Fr. Enzo Addari, administrator of St. Louis Center said, “There aren’t enough blessings in the world to thank everyone who came out to support us. We appreciate everyone who came, and all the volunteers who were here to help; especially the members of the Knights of Columbus who cooked food and directed traffic.”

The cars were the real story however, and the pictures tell the rest of the story.
