Yellow Door benefit breakfast Saturday at Smokehouse 52 BBQ for farmers’ markets

The Yellow Door farm-to-table fundraising initiative is hosting a breakfast event Saturday, April 26 from 9-11 a.m. at Smokehouse 52 BBQ.

All net proceeds from the event will go to the Chelsea Farmers’ Market.  Adults are asked to donate a minimum $15 per entrée.

“The timing is perfect for this event with the Farmers’ Market getting ready to open on May 3,” says Yellow Door co-founder Janice Ortbring. “We are so grateful to Phil and Jen Tolliver of Smokehouse 52 BBQ for hosting and Chef Warren and Gabe of Smokehouse 52 BBQ  for preparing the food – the menu is amazing. I can’t wait to try the veggie option.”

The locally sourced menu options include:

1) Pain Perdu – Cajun Style French Toast (the name derives from the South, not the flavor – is not spicy) served with Homemade Whipped Cream and Michigan Maple Syrup served with a side of Vernors-Glazed Sliced Ham and a Michigan Cherry Spinach Salad with Smoked Bleu Cheese and House-made Honey Apple Cider Vinaigrette.

2) Smokehouse Scramble (or Smokehouse Veggie Scramble) with Eggs, Potatoes, Manchego Cheese and Ham (or Veggie Sausage) served with a Michigan Cherry Spinach Salad with Smoked Bleu Cheese and House-made Honey Apple Cider Vinaigrette.

Beverages provided by Fresh coffee and Calder Dairy Milk. Locally featured ingredients from the following Chelsea Farmer’s Market Vendors: Fresh, Zatkovich Pastures, Tantre Farm, Goetz Farm, Mama Mofoods, La Baguette, Greystone Creamery, Ruhlig’s Produce, Kelly Farms, Golden Fleece Farm, Kapnick Orchards.

In addition, there will be live music by Swizzlestick with special guest Joe Uzarski.

Sponsors for event include: Stephanie and Larry Doll, Pat and Sandy Merkel, Chelsea Community Kitchen, vendors of the Chelsea Farmers Market, and Smokehouse 52 BBQ.  Smokehouse 52 BBQ is located at 125 S. Main St. at the corner of Park Street.

Chelsea Farmers’ Market starts Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m.-noon through October, at its new location on Main Street in the former Palmer Ford lot.

The Bushel Basket Market takes place on Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-6 p.m. on the Chelsea Community Hospital Campus
