Junior Jesse Jacobusse placed 6th in the 1600m (5:09.39). She beat her seed by five places. Her time at the State Meet ranks as 3rd fastest time in school history in this event.

Sophomore Sydney Matusik placed 8th in the 400m dash with a time of 60.04 in a very fast field of competitors. Her fastest 400m time ranks 4th in school history in this event.

Other results from the state meet:

Senior Karana Wickens placed 12th out of 24 runners in the 3200m run with a time of 11:41.98. A great way to end her high running career. She also led a young 4x800m relay team to a respectable finish at the State Meet.

Senior Laney Miller ran an excellent split (62.08) in the 4x400m relay. The 4x400m relay placed 14th out of 24 teams. The relay ran a season PR of 4:09.46 due to her leadership and efforts on the track.

Junior Hannah Almheimid placed 17th out of 22 hurdlers in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.4. We know she is hungry for a top 8 next year.

Sophomore Kaehla Manly competed in the 300m hurdles and placed 15th out of 21 competitors with a time of 47.88. She also led off the 4x400m relay split in an excellent position for placing in the top 8.

Sophomore Jenna Gileczek jumped an impressive 10′ 5″ (PR) and almost placed in the top 8 with her jump. She was 11th out of 22 competitors.

Freshmen Jacqueline Taylor, Allison Hughes, and Ailish Joyce all ran the 4x800m relay at the State Meet. Each runner had solid splits in the 4x800m relay and gained valuable experience at a State level competition. A very mature group. I am excited about their future.

“I am proud of how our team prepared and competed,” said coach Loren Thornburn.

Thank you to all those who came out and supported the team. Thank you for all the support you have shown our athletes.
