Come and be part of the Memorial Day observation Monday, May 28, in Chelsea.

Expected is a special flag display and everyone is invited to be a participant.

The annual parade starts at 10 a.m. and will include the Chelsea High School Marching Band, the Beach Middle School Marching Band, as well as local veterans. Participants in the parade are asked to gather at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot behind the Purple Rose Theatre and Cleary’s Pub.

The parade route goes south on Main Street, east on Park Street, north on East Street, and east on Middle Street, ending at Oak Grove Cemetery and Cannon Hill where the ceremonies take place.

This year’s speaker is Jeff Royer, and the master of ceremonies will be Jeff Gunnis. Bill Steck will give the invocation and the Reverend Jeff Crowder will say the benediction.

There will be a barbecue at Legion Post 31 (Herbert J. McKune American Legion Post at 1700 Ridge Road) after the parade with brats at noon.
