Publisher’s message: I’m taking a little time off

A scene from the Pet Parade Saturday.

Just a quick note to readers about this week.

My dear sweet Ryan is having surgery on Monday and I am taking some time off to cater to his every whim post-op. There will be a few stories published each day but not as many as you are used to reading so I wanted to give everyone a head’s up.

And, yes, I’m also taking a little breather as I gear up for my favorite time of the year — the Chelsea Community Fair.

Chelsea Update’s extensive coverage of the most popular event of the summer will begin on Aug. 1 and you will find a new story every day leading up to and during fair, which takes place Aug. 19-23.

Also, if you sent me email this week and I did not respond, please resend it. Email gremlins gobbled up all of my email Friday and I’ve been unable to retrieve it.

As another Sounds and Sights Festival comes to a close, on behalf of the entire community, thank you organizers, sponsors, volunteers and participants for another amazing event. It gets better each year because of you.

I’d also like to thank Kim Yam who graciously allowed Chelsea Update to park a table, actually two of her tables, in front of the Chelsea Bakery this weekend for our booth.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Chelsea Update table this weekend and either learned about my news site for the first time or wished me a a happy second birthday with kind words about our coverage of Chelsea.

Even chickens and bunnies took part in the pet parade.

And huge shout out to Elizabeth Richardson, who many of you met this weekend. She planned and decorated and manned the table for two solid days, refilling candy bowls, answering many of your questions. She was the tireless and smiling face of Chelsea Update while I was off taking photos, chatting with folks  or flitting about enjoying the festival.

I hope everyone enjoys their pens. And I’m told they write beautifully on checkbooks, so if you’d like to make a contribution to the continuing coverage of the Chelsea Community, donations of any amount can be sent to Chelsea Update, 18829 Bush Road, Chelsea, MI 48118. Or for those of you who missed out on getting a pen, you can donate through Paypal as well.

  1. Enjoy your time off Lisa. It is well deserved! And best wishes for a complete recovery for Ryan.
