26th Annual St. Louis Center fall dinner auction

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Joe Yekulis for the information and Kelly Flaherty for the photos in this story. And this time, the correct photo gallery is in the story. My apologies.)

The 26th Annual Fall Dinner Auction for St. Louis Center began with an Italian theme in honor of the Servants of Charity congregation from Italy, which has run the program for persons with Developmental Disabilities since 1960.

Fr. Enzo Addari, SdC., was especially proud of the local community for their support, and in particular Chelsea Community Hospital and their staff who donated their time and resources to make this event a success.

“We know by your actions how much you care for our residents. Without your support, we could not provide them with the quality of life they’ve been given, and we thank you all for what you do,” he said in a press release.

Auctioneer Joseph Merkel and his staff once again donated their services to conduct a fun and entertaining auction, both live and silent, and one of the highlights of the evening was State Treasurer Kenneth Unterbrink of the Michigan Knights of Columbus presenting a $20,000 check to Fr. Addari on behalf of the Knights of Michigan.

Some of the most popular live auction items during the evening included a week’s stay in an Italian Villa, a gourmet Italian Dinner for six prepared by Fr. William J. Turner of St. Mary Parish, a 14K Gold diamond and emerald pendant from LaJolla Fine Jewelry, and an autographed baseball bat signed by Tiger’s MVP Miguel Cabrera and two tickets to a Tigers ballgame in 2014.

Kathi Neuman, chair of the auction committee said, “This was one of our best auctions ever, and we are grateful for the support of our committee members and all of the merchants and donors in the local community who support our efforts every year.”
