The Chelsea 8th Grade Blue football team traveled to Tecumseh Tuesday night looking for that perfect end to their season, and that they did in great fashion with a 32-14 victory.

To open the game, Conner McKenzie would lead the kick-off with one of his typical deep boots. With great coverage on the kick-off by John Aquilino, the Dogs defense was set up perfectly to start the game. It didn’t take them long to get things rolling, as Tyler “QuickFeet” Valik ended all hope for the Indians first possession with an outstanding interception.

With the ball at midfield, Chelsea’s powerful offense had one thing in their sight. The O-line would battle their march down the field as a Dominic Guthre reception from Griffen Murphy would setup none other than Evan “BeastMode” Tompkins for a nice touchdown run to put the Dogs on the board 6-0. Valik would run in for 2 points on the conversion to make it 8-0.

The Chelsea defense took the field for a second time with even more hunger. The defensive linemen would keep a fresh rotation going, wearing the Indians down up front. This allowed the outstanding linebacking core of Chase Kemp, Jack Krugh, Griffen Murphy, Conner McKenzie, and Tompkins, to do their job and get the offense back on the field. That they did with Aquilino on a forced fumble recovered by Cam Weatherwax.

This time the Indian defense would feel the sting of Valik. With another one of his talented outside runs he would give the Dogs a 14-0 lead with his touchdown run. “BeastMode” would get the 2 points for Chelsea making it 16-0 with the 2nd quarter winding down.

Although Tecumseh would score as time ran out in the first half, it just wasn’t enough to hold the Dogs at bay. Dylan Dollinger would add to the score for Chelsea with a TD run of his own, along with many other long gains. On that score Murphy would add the 2-point conversion.

The last score on the evening would seal the deal for Chelsea. It only seemed fitting that “BeastMode” give us one more of his power driving runs to end the season on. Tompkins would end up with 2 TD’s on the night. Murphy and Wax would both add a 2-point conversion of their own.

With a 32-14 victory and a final record of 3-3 the Chelsea 8th Grade Blue team capped off another great middle school season.
