Jazz, pop, folk, rock, and Cajun are among the music genres at Sounds and Sights of Thursday Nights on Thursday, July 18.

Now in its sixth week, the free summer concert series offers something for everyone on 10 staged areas located throughout downtown Chelsea from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Hometown favorites David C. Bloom and Friends return and play at the Clocktower gazebo.  Singer-keyboardist Bloom is joined by jazz drummer James Boyd and featured vocalist Lori Minnick.

The jazz vocal trio has expanded its repertoire to more than a 100 songs from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s, bringing new colors and harmonies to bear on timeless melodies and lyrics.

“We love exploring the depths and pushing the boundaries of these classic songs,” Bloom says.

Also performing is singer-piano duo Pianos on Fire, Americana band The Whisky Charmers,  Christian pop-folk ensemble From Grace, the country-pop duo Mikhaila & Will, the Detroit Celtic-rock group Bill Grogan’s Goat, and the local Cajun and percussion Bob Skon Trio.

In addition to the music, 3 Generations Entertainment will be twisting unique balloon animals and other fun creations at the Main Street Alley and Dee Dee the Clown will be doing free face painting in the Clocktower courtyard.

Spectators are invited to experience the new installation of SculptureWalk Chelsea, a self-guided walking tour of 12 juried sculptures located throughout downtown.

And at dusk, SRSLY outdoor cinema presents ‘Thor’ (PG-13).

In addition to the 10-week Thursday night schedule, a 3-day Chelsea Sounds & Sights Festival will take place July 25, 26 and 27.  The festival, now in its 37th year, helps raise the funds necessary to support the free summer long concert series.
