The annual 4-H Youth Show begins Sunday, July 28 and runs through Aug. 2 at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds featuring more than 800 youth who will show crafts, skills and livestock.

The show begins on Sunday at 11 A.M., with dog obedience and showmanship classes.

On Monday, the Still Exhibits Building opens and more livestock arrive for display.

Tuesday is the first full day in which every project, including livestock, is on-site for public display. Also starting Tuesday, animal shows and other fun contests, such as the hands-on foam contest, are under way.

This year, there will be a still project silent auction for craft items hand-made by the 4-Hers. Items will be on display during fair week, and visitors can place bids on them and the 4-H member who made the item will keep the proceeds.

On Wednesday, is a creative chocolate chip cookie and cupcake contest at noon and the “Llama Leaping” contest at 2 p.m.

On Thursday, from 9 a.m.-noon in the activity tent, visitors are invited to participate in hands-on, take-home activities.

On Thursday night is the 4-H Small Animal Silent Auction and the 4-H Youth Livestock Auction at 6 and 6:30 p.m. respectively.

On Friday, there’s a barbeque sponsored by the 4-H Advisory Council and at 1 p.m., visitors can watch an archery contest and a tractor-driving contest. Both take place in the South Field.  At 5 p.m. is the horse Grand Entry, which is followed by Sweepstakes Showmanship.

The show is open from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday, and from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. for the reminder of the week.

Admission and parking are free.
