‘All My Sons’ next Purple Rose Theatre play

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Katie Hubbard for the information in this story.)

The Purple Rose Theatre Company (PRTC) will continue its 28th season with “All My Sons,” an American classic by Arthur Miller. Tickets are on sale now.

How far will a man go to protect his family and his interests? Joe Keller desperately wants to secure the business he spent so many years constructing, ready to hand it down to his son Chris. Joe’s wife Kate is still waiting for their eldest son Larry to return from war, determined that he is alive and will marry the former girl-next-door, Ann –the daughter of Joe’s former business partner. To complicate this family drama, Chris and Ann are in love and want to get married. “All My Sons” shows a post-war American family in a spiral of lies, greed, love, and loss.

“‘All My Sons’ by Arthur Miller is as epic, heartfelt and relevant to the American experience as it was when it premiered 72 years ago. The Purple Rose production presents a rare opportunity to see this true masterpiece by one of our greatest masters of the craft, produced at this level,” says Artistic Director Guy Sanville.

“All My Sons” was awarded the Tony award for Best Author in 1947. Other notable works include “Death of a Salesman” (1949), “The Crucible” (1953), andA View from the Bridge” (1955).

Performances run from Thursday, April 4 through Saturday, June 1.

Directed by Sanville, the cast features artists Michelle Mountain (Grass Lake), Richard McWilliams (Dayton, OH), Ryan Black (New York, NY), Caitlin Cavannaugh (Chicago, IL), David Bendena (Chelsea), Rusty Mewha (Plymouth), Lauren Knox (Milan), Tom Whalen (Royal Oak), Susan Craves (Clarkston), Preston M. Bueche (Birmingham) and Olivia Goosman (Pinckney).

Set design is by Sarah Pearline, properties by Danna Segrest, costumes by Suzanne Young, lighting by Dana White, and sound by Brad Phillips. Devin Faught is the stage manager.

The production sponsors are Chelsea Rhone, LCC and Chelsea State Bank. Underwriting support for the season comes from the Ford Motor Company Fund, The Hamp Family Fund, the Richard and Jane Manoogian Foundation, the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, The Shubert Foundation, and the Matilda R.
