And now there are eight candidates running in the City Council election

(Publisher’s note: Huge apology to Susan Moore for the typo in her name, which has now been fixed.)

Jeff Blazok officially filed his paperwork to run for a 4-year seat on the Chelsea City Council in the Nov. 5 election.

A current Planning Commissioner, Blazok has shown repeated interest in serving on the City Council. He interviewed for, but was not chosen by the City Council for, two council seats that became vacant when Bill Holmberg moved out of the city and then when Kent Martinez-Krantz was elected to the County Board of Commissioners.

Blazok was subsequently appointed to the city’s Planning Commission.

He joins Council Members Dustin Suntheimer, Marcia Parker and Cheri Albertson as well as fellow Planning Commissioner Melissa Johnson in submitting paperwork for the three 4-year seats.

Jane Pacheco and Susan J. Moore have filed for the two 2-year terms, and it’s expected that Current Council Member Frank Hammer will also file for a 2-year seat.

At this point, current Mayor Jason Lindauer has no opposition for the mayor’s seat.

Interested candidates have until 4 p.m. on Aug. 13 to file an Affidavit of Identity and signed petition.

There are three 4-year terms, and two 2-year seats as well as the mayor’s seat up for election in November. If you plan to run for office, you must specify which seat you plan to seek.
