April 13: Caring for One Another event at Silver Maples

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Shawn Personke for the information in this story.)

Please join Silver Maples for special informational event, Caring for One Another, to learn about the Silver Lining Fund on Wednesday, April 13, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Silver Maples of Chelsea.

The Silver Lining Fund mission is to provide financial assistance to any Silver Maples resident who outlives his or her assets, and can no longer afford to stay in their home.

Development Director Andra Ferguson said the fund was created by and for Silver Maples residents to ensure that no one needs to face the hardship of leaving Silver Maples friends and neighbors.

“The fact that resident and community members understand the future that could possibly await their neighbors – and want to do something about it – means a lot to me. Their passion is my passion,” she said.

Ferguson said that all the things that happen at Silver Maples and in Chelsea makes it a lot easier, too, to take on this opportunity.

“Silver Maples not only provides a neighborhood in which residents can thrive, interact and participate, but because of its relationship with the greater Chelsea community, Silver Maples residents have the opportunity to be part of partnerships, outreach and community service – being part of the greater good. Silver Maples, as a not for profit retirement community, is an integral part of Chelsea,” she said.

Silver Maples has partnered with the Chelsea District Library, the Chelsea Center for the Arts, Adult Learner’s Institute, and the Chelsea Senior Center. In addition to providing events and resources for our residents, Silver Maples is also a very active member of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce. We are proud to sponsor and participate in many local groups, events and organizations, including:

  • Alzheimer’s Association
  • Relay for Life
  • Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights
  • Chelsea House Orchestra

Most recently, we have worked with the Library, the Senior Center, Chelsea Retirement Community, and Ascent Audiology to bring the acclaimed Music and Memory program to Chelsea.

Silver Maples has also has three school partnerships: Beach Middle School Leadership program; South Meadows Intergenerational Program; and the Emerson Elementary in Ann Arbor.

Caring for One Another will be held at Silver Maples of Chelsea, 100 Silver Maples Dr. Light hors d’oeuvres, wine, soft drinks and beer will be served.
