Aug. 10: 2nd Annual Sing-Along Fundraiser for JDRF International at Robin Hills Farm

(Chelsea Update would like to thank April Gasbarre for the information in this story.)

Kathleen Treado Daniels, together with guitarist Tommy Foster, will lead the 2nd Annual Sing-Along on Thursday, Aug. 10 at Robin Hills Farm north of Chelsea on M-52.

This year’s event will benefit JDRF International, the leading global organization harnessing the power of research, advocacy, and community engagement to advance life-changing breakthroughs for type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Tommy is a musician who has performed all over the state – including gigs at Cleary’s Pub in Chelsea. He also lives with type 1 diabetes. In fact, this year he marked the 50th “diaversary” of his diagnosis at age 5. Kathleen’s family has also been touched by the disease—her daughter Nellie Norris was diagnosed in 1995 at age 5.

With T1D, a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. People with T1D face challenges every day, such as balancing insulin dosing with food and activity, continuous glucose monitoring, and sleepless nights.

T1D can strike at any age and without warning. Living with T1D means there are no days off and there is no cure. But there is hope.

Support of the 2nd Annual Sing-Along will help JDRF fund life-changing breakthroughs to remove the daily burden of this disease – until it no longer exists.

The Sing-Along begins at 7 p.m. sharp at the Robin Hills Farm Amphitheater and th doors open at 5 p.m.

Make a reservation at the Nest, with dinner seating starting at 5 p.m., or grab a slice from Tiki Sam’s Pizza truck down at the Amphitheater. There will be cash bars at the Nest and the Amphitheater. There is no RSVP needed for the event, but there is a suggested cash donation of $10 per person, with all proceeds going to JDRF International.

Golf cart rides are available for those who need help getting down the hill to Amphitheater.

Robin Hills Farm is located at 20390 M-52 in Chelsea. In case of rain, we’ll sing at the Barn.
