Beach Middle School track teams defeat Ypsilanti

The Beach Middle School track teams both came home from Ypsilanti victorious on Monday, May 19.

The girls won 113-19 and the boys won 89-46.

First place finishers for the girls included Caroline Hirth, 3200m run, Jenna Gileczek in the 55m hurdles and the 70m dash.

Also winning were the 800m relay team of Natalie Goften, Jordan Fannin, Jade Gerweck and Sydney Matusik.

Jacqueline Taylor won the 800m run, Sydnee Liedel, the 1600m run, and Matusik, the 400m dash.

Also victorious were the 3200m relay team of Ava Nelsen, Liedel, Alison Hughes and Hirth.

And, Kaehla Manly set a school record in the 200m hurdles.

The 1600m relay team of Taylor, Matusik, Nora Fahle and Nelsen, the 400m relay team of Goften, Manley, Fannin and Gerweck also won their races.

Zoe Steigerwald won the long jump, Janie Schultz,the high jump and Jordan Holton, the shot put.

Winning for the boys were Foster Thorburn in the 3200m run, Reese Smith in the 400m dash, the 3200m relay team of Carson Rabbit, Jacob Grubbs, Thorburn and Jeremy Northrup, the 1600m relay team of Brendan Doyle, Wes Wickens, Jake Battaglia and Connor Gilbreath.

In addition, the 400m relay team of Matt VanBuren, Grant Redmer, Max Caselli and James Mida, were victorious.

Casseli won the high jump, Rabbitt won the long jump and Mida won the shot put.
