(Chelsea Update would like to thank Jason Morris, middle school athletic director, for the information in this story.)

The Beach Middle School 7th grade blue volleyball team defeated Saline on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in an exciting match, winning the first game 25-16, losing the second, 21-25 and winning the third, 25-22.

Alise Hale led with 11 points, Emily Griggs had 8 points, Zoe Steigerwald and Peyton Vandegrift had four points each. Kara Nold had 3 points, Paige Romelhardt and Nina White each had 2 points, while Claire Kelly and Lexi Clark had 1 each. Great defensive play was turned in by Sydney Hines and Hale.

The 7th grade gold volleyball team lost their match to  Adrian, losing the first two games, but coming back with a win in the third. The girls’ main focus for the game was three hits. Audrey Phillips, Grace Bush, Jordan Seitz, and Kendall Tucker each had great three-hit plays, which stumped Adrian. Delaney Krause made an incredible one-arm save to win us a point.

The 8th grade blue volleyball team lost to Saline. Annalisa Luckhardt had a good pass to the setter and Selena Shanley had good saves for the Bulldogs. The night’s top servers were Kylie Kuebler, Allie Heinen, and Sidney Bailey.

The blue team plays again on Monday at home against Ypsilanti.

Even though the 8th grade gold volleyball lost to a tough Adrian team Wednesday night, all three games were played with strong effort. In the first game, Autumn Johnson, Olivia Byrd and Sara Stribe had spikes over the net and Kelsey Walz returned several hard serves. In the second game, there were some good digs from Cassie Lungo, Jade deGracia and Hannah Stock. And in the third game, spikes came from Anna Knight, Kourtney Long, and Stribe. Leading servers for the night were Lungo, Knight, Walz and Stock.
