Below are the Beach Middle School 7th and 8th grade volleyball results from Sept. 16.
7th Grade Blue
The 7th Grade Blue Volleyball Team played a great first match, but lost a tough one to Dexter Monday night.
They won the first game 25-18, but lost the 2nd game 18-5 and lost the 3rd game, 25-20. Haley Townsend led the way scoring on 9 serves. Stephanie Dark had 6 serve points, Erin McDonnell had 5, Madeleine Kennedy, Mallory Stribe, and Emily Savery each had 2, and Ali Boham, Bella Verardi and Lindsey Atkinson each had 1.
8th Grade Blue
The 8th Grade Blue Volleyball Team won its first match against Dexter.
Chelsea won all three games 25-18, 25-12, and 25- 16. Nina White, Ellie Verrette, and Peyton Vandergrift served several aces in the match. Paige Stacy and Kylie Saxton were strong on the net. Jordan Seitz and Paige Romelhardt had several digs in the back row.
The entire team played hard and contributed to the exciting win.
7th Grade Gold
The 7th Grade Gold Volleyball team lost their first match of the season to Lincoln. Sierra Law had a run of 5 serves while Karie Reiber had a run of 4 serves and one ace. Alex Chalogianis and Livvie Cerveny both added an ace to the team.
8th Grade Gold
The 8th Grade Gold Volleyball team won 1 of their 3 sets last night against Lincoln. First game jitters left the team down in the first game. Zoe Steigerwald helped bring the team back with 4 ace serves and a strong hit up the middle. Emily Griggs and Kaehla Manly had deep hits, but the girls ran out of time losing, 16-25.
In the 2nd game, the Dawgs made it a close battle but came up short 22-25. Melissa Jolly played well adding 3 hits, a block at the net and an ace serve. Jordin Fannin had 2 hits and Kara Nold added 2 ace serves. The team won the third game 15-13. Audrey Phillips had 2 tips, Emily Griggs served for 4 points, Alise Hale had 3. And Sabrina Matusko served for 2 points to help seal the win. The team plays at home Thursday.
