Beach Middle School X-C teams second in tri-meet

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Loren Thorburn for the information in this story.)

Chelsea Beach Middle School cross country teams traveled to Heritage Park in Adrian to compete against Adrian and Blissfield in a 2-mile race. Heavy rain showers rolled in on the boy runners, but that did not deter them as they ran well as a group.

Adrian won the tri-meet with 30 points, while Chelsea placed 2nd with 44 points and Blissfield finished 3rd with 54 points. Jake Brant and Linus Helzerman both lead the Chelsea boys followed by Alex Martin, Gavin Busch and Chala Campbell. Also, Nic Peal and Nathan Sobiechowski both bested their personal records by 15 to 30 seconds, respectively.

As the heavy rain started to pass, the girls started their race and competed well against good competition. The Chelsea girls team lost to the Adrian girls (33 to 40), but they were able to beat Blissfield by 15 points. The girls were led by Christina Roberts followed by Josie Jackson who PRed by 15 seconds. The other top scorers were Addie Sinkwitts, Lauren Thompson, and Haley Hopkins (who PRed by about one minute and 30 seconds).

Other runner highlights were Natalia DeMea who PRed by 45 seconds and Kassidy Grossman who ran one minute and 44 seconds faster than her best time.
