Beach Middle School’s Connell Alford: undefeated in X-C races, breaks own school record

Beach Middle School’s Connell Alford won the Mega Jam Invitational at Huron-Meadows Metropark Saturday in a race of 221 runners.

He broke his own school record with a time of 10:52, and went undefeated in all of his races this season, which is an outstanding achievement.

The boys team placed 7th out of 26 teams.

Jackie Dell also continued to improve by placing 18th with a time of 11:36 (which moves him up to 6th in the all-time list).

Other outstanding performances were: Connor Zatkovich who ran a 13:55 (a 22-second drop to his previous personal record), Rowan Anderson who ran 17:15 (a 27-second improvement to his PR), and Austin Tackett who ran 17:36 (a 12-second improvement to his PR).

The girls team finished 10th out of 24 teams.

Trilian Krug lead the team with a 3rd finish out of 215 runners followed by Cristina Roberts who dropped 15 seconds from her previous time to place 33rd place, which puts her 13th on the all-time list.

Other outstanding performances were made by Lily Paddock who had a season best time of 15:56, Helen Sparks-Jackson who had a time of 16:04 (a one minute plus improvement), and Bella Hagen who had a season best time of 16:16.
